July 8
My brother Phil and his wife Chiquis are being wonderful guests, cheerful and helpful. Chiquis and I play a lot of Rummy and Phil has outdone himself in the handyman department. He has refinished my dining table, remodeled the bird feeder, built a garden bench and drink holder in the shade of my beachside trees, cleaned rain gutters, lopped tree branches, repaired the sprinkler system, etc.
Julie, Simon's girlgriend, prepared a gourmet Korean meal for us on the Fourth of July after which we watched the fireworks on the beach. I'm on my two week "respite from chemo" period. I still have enough hair that I don't have to wear a wig. Today is another perfect day in Hawaii and I took my morning tea and toast down to the beach bench so I could meditate on the beauty of the ocean. We think the sea tortoises have laid their eggs at the foot of my vegetation line. There were several large depressions in the sand and tracks like something large had been dragged down to the water. Time will tell. Thanks for your comments and e-mails. Aloha to all.

Hi Joannie,

I found your blog and I must say you are still as gorgeous as ever. I love all the pictures - keep posting 'em. I'll show your pictures to Rick when he visits me office/computer next.

We want to see you in October, if you're in town. Take good care and keep smiling.

XOXOXO
Rick and Iris

Hi Joan, Patti Sullivan here, typing in with Lucky, who asked me to check in to your blog.

Mom says your hair is beautiful and hopes you have all the time you need, and she can imagine Phil doing all that work , cause he just has to keep busy.

May the very best results come to you from all the chemo you are getting, and from all the love of your family.

Patti here again-- I am here in So Cal with Lucky, helping out. She had several falls and had a very hard time of it for a few weeks, but seems to be bouncing back quite nicely now. I also send you best wishes and love.

Lucky's place here is quite nice -- they remodeled it before she moved in and it has lots of light from some big windows and skylights as well. Reminds me in spirit of her place on Prospect in Honolulu.

I still remember your place in Haleawa from that one time I came out with Mom and we spent the night, so welcoming. The waves were huge and I thought I had woken up in Heaven. Such a wonderful memory - thanks for your hospitality.

Much Love and Aloha,
Lucky and Patti Sullivan
